On December 15, 1982, Delta's first Boeing 767 Aircraft was unveiled and christened "The Spirit of Delta". In 1982, a year when many airlines experienced low revenues, the idea of "Project 767" was spearheaded by three Delta flight attendants. Project 767 was a voluntary program which invited all Delta employees to participate financially in the purchase of the aircraft. Enployees were enthusiastic beyond all expectations at the idea of showing their appreciation of Delta Air Lines in this unique way. As a member of Delta's fleet, "The Spirit of Delta" serves on regular flight schedules. Delta Air Lines.
